This photo of the 1954 Spring Show is from the July 1954 Bulletin of the Hawaii Orchid Society (which later became the Hilo Orchid Society).  This show was in addition to the larger annual orchid show later that year (see below).  It was held in the showroom of Island Motors, a local auto dealer.  Note the car in the background of the showroom, a brand new 1954 model.

These photos of the 1954 Hilo Orchid Show are from the December 1954 Bulletin of the Hawaii Orchid Society.  Note that by this date each grower has their own exhibit.  Also note the preponderance of Vandas in the exhibits.  As mentioned in other historical accounts, Hilo really was "Vanda country" in the 1950s.
