What is the Hilo Orchid Society?
The Hilo Orchid Society is educational, friendly, community minded and welcoming to all. It was established prior to World War II by a group of local orchid enthusiasts. In 1984 the Society became a tax-exempt organization under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. Its primary purpose is to "promote, carry on, and aid in every possible way, the culture of orchids of all kinds." Our annual Hilo Orchid Show, held in August of each year, is the largest orchid show in Hawai'i.
